  • Nest # 40 a loggerhead was found by Alan in our Middle Area

    Nest #40 has hatched and been evaluated 81 hatchlings escaped from nest 24 were alive in nest and released after dark 1 dead in nest 1 dead pipped egg 51 no obvious development 158 total eggs 66% nest success on this large nest  

  • Nest # 39 was found by Kelly a loggerhead in our Middle Area

    Nest #39 has hatched and been evaluated 16 had escaped from nest 67 were alive in the nest and released after dark 5 eggs had no obvious development 88 total eggs 88% nest success

  • Nest #38 a loggerhead was found by Sheila in Seagrove

    Another nest that had water over it in the storm. 1 escaped from nest 83 dead embryos 84 total eggs

    This is a sad nest, even tho the sea turtle laid up high the nest had water over it durning the storm, just as the sea turtles were hatchling below the sand. This nest was dug and evaluated 7 were dead in pipped eggs 9 had no obvious development 87 were found dead embryos 103…

    When this nest was laid it was very close to the water so it was moved and when it was moved it was noticed that there was fresh blood that dripped off some eggs.  So was this the reason for a high number of no development in the eggs, we are not sure 39 hatchlings…

    Nest #31 has hatched and been evaluated 31 escaped from the nest 48 dead in nest- they had hatched and very high water came up and we are sorry to say they drowned in the nest.  So sad 1 egg had no obvious development 80 total eggs 39% nest success
